Guyana is an English-speaking country in South America whose medical schools follow a US-style MD curriculum and appear on the World Directory of Medical Schools. For students who want a Western-format medical education without US or Caribbean fees, it is a serious option — and English-medium from day one, with no language year.

What the programme looks like

The MD runs roughly five years: pre-clinical basic sciences, then clinical rotations that may be split between Guyana and partner hospitals abroad. Graduates typically sit a licensing or screening examination in the country where they intend to practise.
